Keeping a filter anchored with my RES

ShadowMcCarthy Jul 06, 2003 05:29 PM

I have a RES that has a shell about 7 inches long. I'm trying to keep a filter in the corner, but he moves it around, eventually disconnecting the airtube. With the filter just floating around in his tank, it obviously doesn't do any good, and it makes a real mess. I have even tried to tie the filter to the corner of the tank using the clear plastic tube coming up from the under-gravel filter. That darn turtle worked and worked at that filter and eventually got the filter out. Here I am, all proud of myself for thinking of the idea of tying the filter, and he has it out in a day. I'm getting pretty frustrated and looking for any way of keeping that darn filter in place. It is called a Jumbo Bottom feeder, if that helps.

Thanks,

Shadow

I don't really know what you can do since RES like to play with the stuff in the tank.. I remember I had a floating rock/ledge for them to bask on but instead my RES would keep pushing the rock to knock the suction cups off.

What I did was get one of those really good suction cups sold at petstores and super glues it on.. then it suctioned to the glass much better then the others and my turtles coudln't knock it down and gave up trying (at least I think). So maybe superglue and "deep" suction cups are your answer?
