What's a bite feel like?

Elwood54 Feb 05, 2005 09:27 PM

From a Crested?

Just a question out of curiousity for those who have been bitten before.

Please include the size of you're Crested and why he/she bit you.

I never got bit by a crested but I have by a gargoyle, but It should feel similar (he is only about 4" though lol). It just felt like a little "grab" like a person.....didn't feel a pinch or anything. This was bc i was cleaning some GGD off of his feet and he decided to bite me lol......what a sweety.

Not much.

I've had everything from 1.5g babies all the way up to 40 & 50g adults bite me. None of them have so much as broken skin.

you hardly even notice it. it's just odd seeing a very nice crested bite you all of the sudden. i was bitten while pulling to males apart when i threw them together for a few minutes while a cleaned a cage.

Perhaps there are some geckos that do hurt?

Maybe one of the giant sp's?

there's a fantastic pic in Rhacodactylus: The Complete Guide to their Selection and Care by Philippe de Vosjoli, Frank Fast, Allen Repashy that shows a bite from a leachie. it definitely broke some skin.

and dont forget the tokays.. kings of bite.

It feels like tapping your fingertip with another finger, just a little less contact area. Maybe a light tap with a pen is close. I wouldn't have noticed the bite if I hadn't seen my crested bite my finger instead of the silkworm I was holding.
