Rock wall

bhelliom Feb 06, 2005 01:02 PM

Afternoon everyone

beautiful weekend up here in Ontario...

I'm just sitting here building a Rock wall for Dino. I've got the base form built now out of one inch styro... I don't know if anyone knows anything about this but i'm going to spray a building foam on it for trength and teture next... once I'm done that I'm not sure what to do though... so here comes the question.

What kind of paint/grout should I use to add the colour and more texture, and sealer so that I don't kill my beardie?

I think it'll look really great when its done but any help would be most appreciated

Derek

though I haven't built any of these tank walls before, I do know most aerosol sprays (ie spraypaint) disolves styrofoam. I would recommend grout (for texture, or just mix plaster with coarse sand, pretty much the same thing) then paint over with acrylic paint. Seal with a varnish made for acrylic paints that is also water proof.

whether or not this is safe for reptiles at all... But you mentioned that aerosole dissolves styrofoam, etc. I do a lot of things with miniatures, and I use a lot of that pink styrofoam and stuff for making scenery, a layer of watered down white glue will prevent the spray from damaging the foam, though I'd use a practice piece first.
