Thinking of getting a BCI... rat question...

Amanda E Feb 06, 2005 01:27 PM

Okay. I have been thinking about getting a boid of some sort for the LONGEST time, almost going on 3 years now.

I've finally decided that I really do like BCI the most, particularly the various Nicaraguan morphs, but I haven't really given much thought to the food until now.

Can a full grown BCI (Nicaraguan locale) live on 1 adult rat per meal? I'd rather not have to feed multiple items at a time and I HATE the idea of feeding rabbits.

Thanks a lot.

I think a full grown nicaraguan boa (true locale) would not ever need a full grown rat.. I believe Nics only get about 5 ft max if they are fed an appropriate diet. I had a few nics that were almost two years old and I was only feeding them one to two adult mice per meal.. so if you wanted to go with rats, you could easliy go with one appropriate sized rat each week to two weeks. boas can easily go 10 to 14 days between meals - or smaller meals every 7 days.

good luck..
Patrick
