res spots on shell

radefilipp Feb 06, 2005 01:31 PM

Could anyone help me figure out what is up with my res's shell. He has lighter colored patches on his shell that can only be seen when he is in the water and the light is on. when I took him out to bath him and dry him and put medicine on him the spots were nowhere to be seen. His shell looks the same everywhere. I cannot figure out if he has a fungus, shell rot, or nothing. Thanks.

It is probably his scutes getting ready to shed, the water gets under them and kind of glimmers. Or it could be mineral deposits from the water. Either way it is nothing to worry about.
