Getting babies, now what?

sebastian924 Feb 06, 2005 01:44 PM

HI, I am currently breeding a pair of leopard geckos and was wondering what I do once I have the babies. I want to sell them but I heard being able to ship is difficult, and my town is real small. Basically, how would I successfully start off a very small business in breeding? Any response would be great, thanks!

um, i'm really not trying to be rude, but you really should have thought this out BEFORE you started breeding.

Hey, I'm sorry, I guess it did seem like I was unprepared. I have not purchased the leos yet, but I am planning on purchasing on a breeding pair. I am theoretically asking, if have baby leos how easy is it to sell/trade etc. them, and how could I start a small business doing so? Thanks for your responses.

o i c.... Thank you for clearing that up! gave me quite a jump initially. My opinion is that the market is pretty well covered, but maybe some more experienced breeders can answer better.

There really isn't a market in the sense that you are not going to be able to make money selling leo's. Especially if you cannot ship them.

Persoanlly i would look into shipping info and learn how to ship leos before getting the breeding pair. That way you can sell them easier.

Try and find people in your town who would be interested in purchasing a leo from you.

If there is a reputable herp store, or pet store with a really nice herp dept ask them if they would be interested in buying, or trading leos for store credit.

Definately do all this breeding the leo's, normal leopard gfeckos can be harder to get rid of than you might imagine

good luck!
