snake in fish tank

is it ok to put a garter snake in a fish tank and is there anythink i need to do to the tank befor i put him in?

Yes.

Drain it!

I think many people keep their garters in tanks. Mine's in a 20 long, with CareFresh substrate, a hide log, and a water dish (and a secure top!).
