This past season, mine reside in a big Rubbermaid tub with CareFresh bedding, two half-logs to hide, and a water dish, due to my having to have someone else maintain them for me for the past few months. The tub was in a sunroom with no heat and stayed in the high 40s/low 50s Fahrenheit.
Typically, I put them in a cardboard box with CareFresh and put it on a shelf in my garage, taking them out periodically to soak them and weigh them.
In about two months, it's back to the yard!

to post pics go to the kingsnake.com gallery register for a free account then up load your pics, once uploaded come back to the forums and either post a reply or post a new thread, scroll down when you still have the text box thing to post a message and you'll see "Select Image from Photo Gallery" next to a drop bar, click the drop bar and select the pic you want or you could go to photobucket.com and register there but I was told they're not doing free accounts at this time.

This is the home for my two hatchlings. It's a rubbermaid (turtle keepers' best friend) container approx. 36" x 16" x 12". I use bed-a-beast or similar coconut fiber bedding cause it holds moisture nicely and won't rot and it's a great digging substrate. There are a few hides and plants in the enclosure plus a shallow water dish. I keep a UVB/UVA light on them plus a ceramic heat lamp. I cut out the center of the original lid and used zip-ties to secure the metal pieces (they are paint bucket grids with the ends straightened) More than anything, this was just a cheap way to have a very secure lid to set both the light and the ceramic heater directly on. And the oversize openings let light and heat through better than a normal aquarium mesh top. I know this isn't a great picture of the inside, but you get the general idea. This is what the little guys will be in for the first 1-3 years, but as soon as they're older and bigger they'll be outside and hibernated during the winter.

Try seeing if your vet has issue 6.1 (2004) of Exotic DVM magazine. It has one of the best articles on indoor box turtle care, complete with pictures and instructions on building a relatively inexpensive and very functional enclosure from a bookcase from Wal-Mart.
