Impaction question....

Mayo Feb 06, 2005 05:06 PM

I have a female leopard who weighs in above 90g. She has eaten well as you can see, but of late she as have my other two geckos not eaten much at all.

I picked up my large female and noticed she has a large area of black on her underside. It is not right next to her anus, which I would think would be the area of darkness for impaction. This is midway in her body. My other female (same age but smaller) nor my male have this.

I placed her in warm water (which she didn't like) and massaged her underside. She defecated right after I placed her in her cage. If impaction were an issue would she be able to have a normal bowel movement? I know she is not defecating much, as none of my lizards are due to cooler weather.

I can post a picture later on. Just wondering what this large area could be, much large than even a large organ could be. I also didn't mention she is housed on tile, no sand whatsoever. I am going to weigh again this week and compare to last weighing. I might consider the vet the following week.

Thanks,
Matt

A large black spot is usually something to do with (i forget which) a liver problem or kidney, i really think you should post this question at w w w . f a u n a c l a s s i f i e d s . c o m if you want serious help with your current problem.
