O/T Question about lighting

shopunke Feb 06, 2005 06:40 PM

I got a black UV bulb for my frogs. Question is, do I turn it on at night or in the day? They're nocturnal, the box says it doesn't interrupt their nocturnal patterns.

I thought nocturnal critters didn't need UV light, as a general rule? Since they get UV in the wild from the sun, and there is no sun at night, this makes sense.

same size?
You had said it was fleshy to the touch, most tumors would be firm or harder I would think.

I still think it has to do with water your using or something thats in it, or around him, causing bacterial infections.

Wish we knew, its a shame.

i know nothing about frog care so you may already do this, what about using distilled water? not just spring water but actually distilled, it is different and more pure than just spring water because distilled is the only type pharmacies are allowed to use for mixing drugs. maybe your water treater is not getting all the things out of the water. only god knows what is in the water from all the hurricanes.

I use a really good water softener on their water. The bump WAS still the same size, until about two days ago when I tried to squeeze it again... It flattened down and stuff came out. He's getting better now.

with a DECLORINATOR, such as you get for fish tanks( a water conditioner, removes clorine and metals....

Frogs react quick to dirty / or untreated water, develope infections, redleg, many dieases !

Thats why frogs and salamanders are good indicators of how screwed up our environment can be.

In nature from poluted waters you will see alot of death and deformities in them. :0(

My husband says, and you can not give that water to your plants; however, you can if you use KCl for your water softener.
