Sonorans, Nicaraguans, Hondurans, Bloodboas...What locality of BCI is...

SRX Jul 06, 2003 07:08 PM

What localities of Boa Constrictors are true "dwarfs" and what are their respective adult sizes? I have read that the Bloodboas and Hondurans are a smaller locality.

Does anyone keep adult breeding Hondurans? If so, what are their average lengths and weights?

Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks for your time,
Scott

My adult sonorans are just under 5 feet. Not sure about the others. Last weight on my male was 4lbs, female was 5lbs but I think she may be gravid.

Well I find it strange that you asked about only central American boas and not the Insular Boas that are out there. All of the Boas that you mentioned there are without a doubt small in comparison to the Colombian Boas but the Corn Island and Crawl cay Boas are smaller even yet. I personally do not work with any of them anymore, although I did at a Time work with the Nics, but all of them are just to nippy for my liking. I would prefer a snake that does not require gloves to work with and some of those central American Boas are just plain mean!!!! Get with Gus at Rio Bravo he is a Dwarf Boa guy and he could give you good sizes, I’m sure.
Thanks
Jim

Thanks Jim,
I'll try and get in touch with Gus. I had read about the Crawl Cay Boas also. The do not seem to be any available lately. There were a rash of juveniles floating around about 6 months ago..."he who hesitates"...lol!

Are you aware of any adult Crawl Cays sizes(i.e. length/weight)?

Again, thanks for the feedback.
Scott
