New pictures of the "lump". Advice needed.

jtmb85 Feb 06, 2005 10:26 PM

This is the second time I am posting pictures. I was getting mixed answers and questions so I decided to post new pictures and answer some of the questions. The "lump" is hard. It feels like the bone is sticking out. I dont know if he injured his back when he was younger or what. Touching the "lump" dosent seem to hurt him in anyway. He's a very active snake. He eates, soakes, and escapes on occasion just like any other ball python. The bigger he gets the bigger the "lump" gets. His digestion seems to be working normaly also. Directly behind the lump his back feels almost too soft compared to the rest of his back. Any imformation is good imformation. If you have any ideas please post them, I'll be grateful with any ideas on what it could be.
Thanks,
James

It really looks like a kink in the spine. I have a Corn that has five kinks. She is 7 years old now and does just fine.

I would be sure to let a good Vet look at that and make certain that it is a kink. Hard to tell for sure just from pictures.

I also think it's a kink in the spine. If he's not had any problems so far with moving around, eating, digestion, shedding, etc. then he should continue to be fine. If it's really a concern to you, take him to a vet and have him looked at.

Kink in the spine or not, I think it best to take him to a vet to ease your mind. It's really to difficult for anyone who can't handle or see it in person to make a call on it. If, as you say, it doesn't hinder the snake in it's normal routines, then I wouldn't be overly worried. If you really gotta know what it is, your best bet's the vet. Good luck
