Bairdi Pics (large pic warning)

Hurley Jul 06, 2003 07:23 PM

Had the camera out while checking snakes today and snapped a couple pictures. The large girl is my 2000 Bairdi from Adam Block's stock. The two little guys (who don't look so little when they are away from her, lol) are a couple of yearling males I am raising up to see how their color comes in. One just shed, one is hard blue. The one in blue takes after the adult in eating tendencies. He's becoming quite the moose in his own right. :D

First pic is a beauty shot of the big girl,
she wanted to pose, after all.

Another.

Trio of Bairdi.

Oh yeah, and forgot the standard qualification: These snakes are not normally housed together and were placed in the same box solely for the purpose of the shots. No snakes were harmed in the making of these pics. :P

Taking their own sweet time to pip.

I had to move during incubation time, so prior to the move all of the corn and rat eggs were kept at room temperature. After the move, they got set up in a nice warm incubator at 82 degrees. The first clutch (a corn clutch) hatched out last week, shed over the last couple days, and all but one has eaten a frozen/thawed pinky. They're fiesty little buggers and robust...so I guess the cooler temps didn't phase them much.

I am expecting that Bairdi clutch to pip any day, but it's anyone's guess on which day that will be.

Your female is really nice and it's great to see her producing some babies. Good luck
