%*^# - ing FRP

This stuff is very annoying! I put it along the bottom floor of my cages and up 8 inches along the back and sides. Now my problem comes from heat. I got some helix panels which also have FRP on them - these took a good 2 weeks to offgas. Now I put them back in the cage and I discovered the problem i'm having is the heater from the bottom is heating the top layer of FRP and causing it to offgas!!!! Any suggestions on how to combat this? Maybe just leave the bottom tanks heater on full blast with a fan blowing out the top cage thru the vent?

Also, I have my chondro cage (which I fully lined with FRP) on top of another cage i'm getting ready to use. I was wondering how can I combat this problem seeing as how I have no other place to put my chondro? Do I just need to go buy a big plastic sterilite for him until the cage completely off gasses?

This is the weird part. As I said, the chondro cage is fully lined with FRP. Including the top. This is whats confusing me... when I first screwed the heater in and turned it on, there was no offgas at all from this piece the heater is directly attached to!!! For all 4 cages I used 3 sheets I got right on top of each other @ home depot. Any suggestions/thoughts/comments?

Thanks,
Chris

Definately sounds like you managed to get some pieces that were "fresher" than others. I've never experienced this with FRP, I guess I got lucky.

That sounds as good as any, although blowing out the cage door would provide even more ventilation.

Well the problem with blowing out the cage door is if I open it, the inside doesnt get hot enough to make the frp on the bottom offgas.... cant win for losing i swear....
