Animal Plastics rack user question.

Bobs Feb 07, 2005 10:02 AM

I was just checking out Animal Plastics site. Is their heat tape recessed like the Boaphile racks to prevent fire hazard wear and tear from sliding the boxes over them? Anyone with experience? The price looks good.Couldn't find any info on the site. Appreciate your time. Thanks.

Sorry for the misstake. I just got my rack from Animal Plastics(AP). If you order belly heat there is a groove for the heat cable to fit in. The boxes never touch the cable just slide over it on the shelf. AP racks hold the heat very well.

I have their cages in 3 different sizes and 2 of the racks.. I woudl use any flexwatt on the racks as the shelves fit into a grove in the back panel of the rack. I use flexwatt on the caging though and it works great. A 92 hot spot will be no problem at all.. You will need a thermostat to control the unit.. The cable they use is good stuff and can get very very hot..

When you say cable you don't mean heat tape? Am I understanding that not all have a routed out section the heat runs through without touching the boxes? Thanks again for your time.

I've read in several articles that heat cable (the old fashioned stuff for pipes etc.) is prone to fire hazard. Is that the stuff your talking about? Thanks.

AP's belly heat cable is routed into the shelves. No it is not flex watt, nor is it the old fashioned stuff used to heat pipes. It is a state of the art radiant heat cable that is very reliable and safe.
