YES! The amount of humidity is based upon locality of the animal. Ie Sonoran Desert Boas need less humidity then say a Suriname Redtail, just simply due to natural occuring humidity levels. A decent level of humidity will provide for proper respiratory function as well as proper shedding. Use a substrate that will allow for humidity but make sure that you don't saturate to heavily and or maintain constant wet conditions that can lead to bacterial or fungal infections of the scales.

There should be many a care sheet on the internet, try this:

I have a chondro (green tree python), and I told him to do what I did with my chondro.. sold him some coco husk substrate I had lying around and told him to mist daily... is that about right?

The cocnut husk works awsome for boas as you know it holds humidity very well.

Misting boas is not always needed, Misting can cause your boa to be unable to thermoregulate depending on the heat set up. If you mist I would use warm water so your boa does not get cold or catch a cold. I keep all my boas in there own room and I have a humidifier that keeps the humidity up well so I rarely mist but if I do I just mist the substrate and not the boa.
