WTF, GTF, Leapord in the same cage?

sw0rdf15h Feb 07, 2005 06:57 PM

I've been wanting to set up a huge tank that I have, but my two white's tree frogs are tiny (1.5" long) and it's kind of a waste. Can I put a leapard frog and/or a green tree frog in the same tank?

Why?

devious_froggy Feb 09, 2005 04:59 PM

Why? Have you seen the size of a WTF's MOUTH! they will eat the GTF, maybe they arent big enough now, but they will be latter on. or at least they will try and probbaly squish the poor thing in the process.

Either way, if you dint know that ** Mixing species is the dumbest and most TABOO thing you can do/ask about** you abviously havent done your research!

Maybe that was a little harsh, but do you have any idea how often we answer this!

...Also, 1.5 is very small for a whites? are they young, how often are you feeding them? what are they living in now (two whites need at least a 30 gallon when fully grown) and are you sure they are whites? I have seen GTF's listed as WTF's before, so if they are fully grown and that tiny, they probbaly arent whites.

Well generally babies tend to be smaller than adults. Yes they are whites. I'm keeping them in a 10 until they reach 2 or 3 inches, at which point I have a 150 gallon tank waiting. I'm sure that your Petco caresheet warns you of mixing species, but since this is such a large vivarium set-up, I was wondering what kind of species I COULD mix. For instance, I know someone keeps two whites in a 100 gallon tank half-full with water. They live on the sides and on floating logs, coexisting with several species of newt and fish.

As to the size of the mouth, Whites in my experience grow to be about 4-5 inches, where as green tree frogs grow to between 3 and 4.
