fish eating candoia

scolopendromorph Feb 07, 2005 07:36 PM

Does anyone else's Candoia eat fish??

i have a 2:1 C. carinata and one of the males eats strips of trout!
I decided to give it a try while feeding my water snakes one day..... but never expected it to work!!!!
I have one article which reports Captive Candoia taking live gold fish, but never strips of fish.
The other 2 snakes are not interested at all. But the 'fishy' male has trout every 4feeds or so (med. mice are usual food)

I can't see this does him any harm, he's in perfect condition. variation in diet could even provide nutrients lacking in diet of just domestic mice

Anyone else had similar experiences??????????

Hey...

Well I have heard of feeding babies fish....(some are difficult to get to eat mice) but beware...feeding your male fish might make him less likly to take mice.
