turtles are not playing

mathjock Feb 07, 2005 08:55 PM

I was really excited after reading some of the posts about ping pong balls being turtle toys. So, I went out and got a couple for the turtles to play with in thier tank. I am now really frustrated because they totally ignore it. My turtles are all over a year old, and never had any toys. Can it be that they are "to old to learn new tricks" or is there something I can do to encourage them to play?

LOL

Mathjock don't feel bad. No body who put ping pong balls in their turtles tank and a reaction out them taught them any kind of trick.

You turtles are most likely satified with what you feeding them and do not view the ping pong ball as a food source. This is why the sliders bat the ball around in the first place. It is, indeed, excellent stimulation for them if they take an interest in trying to "eat" the ball but it is not a trick of sort.

Thank you for the reply

well don't give up. Keep putting them in and they may suddenly get curious about it and try to taste them.
