my pictures I use a $300 Minolta Dimage G400. Can probably be found for $250 now. I have a $1000 dig camera (sony dsc-f707) but the minolta has the least shutter lag. Which means it takes pictures faster, less time inbetween shots. This is excellent for boa pictures. I will snap 3 or 4 in each position and move myself (the camera) to a different position as the boa moves. With this camera I generally snap 100 - 200 shots per "session". I weed through them and usually only use 10 - 20 on my website. But generally about half or more turn out good (I just dont need multples of the same angles obviously).
The disadvantage with the Minolta is that it has no low light assist... which means it has trouble focusing inside in low light. But outside in the sun it does excellent. Highly reccomended. Its also tiny! A great travel camera.
