Replying to Mariza about Coiled UVB bulb

southernpawsc Jul 06, 2003 08:41 PM

Hi, I almost missed your Q about the bulb b'c it was so far down, so I started a new one.

The package is yellow and says:

ESU Reptile
Super UV Coil-Lamp
20watt (20w=75w)

on the back, the contact info is:

Energy Savers Unlimited, Inc.
Carson, CA 90746 USA
www.esuweb.com

Item #55172

I hope this helps. I'm very glad to have found it and thanks for all the help you've given me.

Thanks so much! It sounds amazingly like the one I`m using that`s made by a Japanese mfgr. I`ll check out their web site. Thanks again (You more than welcome about the other stuff).

(giggling) I almost typed the "Made in China" part too, then didn't.

They probably are about the same.

Now that would have given me a chuckle! (How come I`m not surprised?) Went to their web site. They don`t sell retail, so I`ll have to check some on-line suppliers. If you don`t mind me asking, how much was yours?

I'm glad you chuckled. I was worried that might be offensive. Ha ha!

I paid $19.99 (US) I thought it was almost a steal compared to buying a hood and tube light. This one also claims that the UVB lasts up to one year, but I want to specifically ask them about that.

Maybe you could contact the company and ask who they sell to in order to buy from their seller.

Other than that, mine came from Petsmart. They have a website but I wonder if they ship outside US or if it'd be too costly.

Thanks for the info. They`re about $30.00 here. The package says they`re good for 10,000 hours and the salesperson (ha ha!) told me they were good for a year. I bought my first one in Oct. 2001 and it was still working well a year later. I figure it had 6,000-7,000 hours on it, but when I bought the second one last Oct. (2002) and compared them I could see how dark (grey) the first one had become. If I wasn`t supplementing with unfiltered sunshine in the summer, I think I would replace it sooner than once a year. The web site says its 3% UVB at best; I think tubes like Reptisun might give out more.
