Container size for adult BP?

deuce02 Feb 08, 2005 12:34 AM

Im planning on making a few racks and have some questions about container sizes. Im looking to make a rack for adults and then a rack for hatchlings. What size works well for both? Ive always liked the sterilite boxes, which i use for my leos. Also, would you suggest belly heat over rear heat? can you get the right temps out of a rear heated rack?

I'd use the Iris CB70 for adults, and whatever you prefer for baby tubs, dictated by how long you want them to be able to stay in the baby tubs. You can get Sterilite tubs that are close in size to the CB70 tubs, but while Iris is keeping there tubs the same, Sterilite, Rubbermaid, etc. seem to change there tub designs as soon as you need more. If you need to know where to find them, scroll down, there's a thread on them. I prefer belly heat myself as I just don't like back heat for anything other than baby tubs(like the 98 cent rubbermaids, nothing bigger). I only like it on baby tubs as there's not much floor space for a heat gradient if you use belly heat. But, with the larger tubs, I think bellyheat is best. The animal doesn't have to press up against the back of the tub for heat, and there's still a heat gradient with the larger tubs. Have fun building your racks, take care.
