Questions about Eggs and Incubation Temps !!

gemdreamer Feb 08, 2005 01:27 AM

One question about egg incubation and temps. I have three females pergo right now and I have my incubator set up and has been for a week, ive just been waiting for them to lay.

I have the temps set at 82, but it flucuates around 1 to 1.5 degrees. Is is ok? or do they need to be more stable? I have the incubator set up in my living room, since i have the space.

and if they need to be more stable, how do i get it more stable?

Thanks for any help.

1.5 degree changes is ok, you want to watch out for 2-3 and up.

To be safe, you could put a thurmal blanket over the incubator. One guy on the forum said that he would try that, they have them on E-Bay.

You need to find a place in your house that has the least amount of temp change through out the 24 hoyur day. Mine is in my hall way.

Hope you get some nice females

I was the one who said I was trying the thermal blanket. I got one at wal-mart for about $2. It's wrapped around my incubator but it only works when you have the steadiest temps available. I put it in my closet and I keep the light off and the door closed so it's pretty much as controled as possible. I think I'm going to get a thermostat though cause mine still fluctates about 2 to 3 degrees.
Hope this helps!

First I think Ill try to move it to my bedroom and see how it does there and then if it doesnt fix the problem, Ill try the blanket.

Thanks for all your advice !!
