CRESTED GECKO EGGS!!!

sallie_keeper Feb 08, 2005 07:28 AM

I just had to tell someone.. My crested gecko just laid her first set of eggs...(my first set too)... I have been waiting for over a year for some sign of breeding... And now there are 2 perfect eggs.. Guess I did something right. First lizard to breed for me...

QUESTION: HOW LONG DO THEY TAKE TO HATCH?? I have seen several different websites with huge time line.. anywhere from 45-90 days. Does that seem right?? guess I should go get a book on these guys..

Can't wait till they hatch...

incubate at 70-76 degrees, and they will hatch between 70-90 days. if cooler it will take longer, if warmer it may be just a tad bit shorter. but usually around 70-80 days.

yea, first of all congrats! i just had 3 females all start laying their first clutches within a couple of weeks of one another, just at the end of january! if you're gonna do it like i do it, just using moistened perlite in a small plastic container, just let it sit at room temperature (around 72 F) and like flamedcrestie said, it should take 70-80 days. its tempting to try to get them to hatch out faster, but if you dont know what you're doing i would recommend against going the warm route. wouldn't want the babies to overheat, dry out, or develop wrong...
