cageing together

newticus Feb 08, 2005 09:51 AM

I'm a little confused. I read that once adult size, and old enough you could keep cresteds together, and separating the male from the female(s for a month or so to give the female(s) a break every now and then. One of the posts bellow said that if cresteds are kept together too long, tails will start dropping off.
So what is the deal?, do they live together for the majority or not.
I know males don't live together, but what about a trio 1:2?
thanks for your help

as you said, you've read it, just re-read it.
it's about
1) not caging different sized cresteds together
2) not caging males together
3) not caging females that weigh under 30G with a male that is able to copulate
other than that, a trio is perfectly fine, even 1.4 is perfectly okay if size requirements are met. just make sure the females are old enough and large enough, and that the females aren't way larger than the males, because then they will pick on him.
also, sometimes females are aggressive towards eachother but not very often.
