I might head out to anza-borrego desert in southern CA in late april to see the supposed massive flower bloom...are there many herps out at that time of year? I've herped the area before, just not so early in the season. thanks in advance

April is a little early sometimes, but it may be good if the heat stays. You can always find little lizards, chucks, rubers, etc in the rocks. The flowers have already started big time. In a week or two they will go off. I don't know how they will be by April. Good luck,
Jeff

thanks for the info, its appreciated.
Its still up in the air whether I'll go or not, I cant really change the dates, as I can only go during my spring break, maybe I'll get lucky.

Late April may be the very end of the season.
The parks current forecast has the wildflower season lasting through march.
Flowers are currently blooming at the park and just starting here in AZ>
Just log on to the state park site for a full flower report.

The site reports that Anza's peak wildflower bloom lasts only two weeks and they mentioned it may only last until mid march.
They also have a recorded message for up to date flower reports.

....I'm more concerned with finding herps than flowers, of course....so I'm not worried about missing the best part of the bloom
