I've read that they stay small but I've heard that they can get really big. So which is it that I should believe? And why aren't they bred as often as other kinds of Boa's?
Thanks in advance....

Hog Island Boas typically get 5 to 6 feet max. I have seen them over seven, but they where some wild caught ones that where probably going on fifteen or twenty years old. They typically stay small and many people do breed them but I think they are sometimes overshadowed by the growing investment morph trade.

I have seen three females in the fleash. Two of which I owned. The two that I owned were 7 foot 2 inch and 7 foot three inch and they were both about 4 or 5 years old. NO they were not wild caught and NO they were not cross breeds. The third one that I saw I have no idea on the age or whether or not it is CB or WC but she was about 7 foot 6 inch or better.
Hope this helps you out some.
My imput on the hoggs it that they will be a little bit snappy when they are young they normally grow out of that.

Well I have personally laid eyes on two that were right at 7 feet... owned by a breeder i know here locally.. However most the ones i see range around 5-6 feet as a top out after about 8 year of growth.. Now mine are still yearlings so personally i couldn't say but they are generally known to stay smaller than BCI & BCC's... but i feel in love with the color.. im hoping my female will reach 7 feet with some luck! I have found my female to be the most wonderful snake, Purchased from Exotic Pets in Las Vegas as a baby she has grown in personality as well as size... But as far as my experiance goes i think they are wonderful, she has never missed a meal, readyly excepted frozen thawed on our first feeding atempt, has never bite, struck, threatened anyone who has held her and is an all around well mannered great looking snake... Im hopeing that her mate will be as easy to handle and take care of as she is... Great little snakes!
Sincerely,
Rose

I've got a pair. My female isn't quite three years yet and she's
right about at 5 feet.
Their heads should be smaller and more slender than regular BCI,
and they shouldn't get quite as thick. It seems that a lot of
the pictures I see of really large hogs have heads that seem
very BCI looking.
They're great boas, the ones that I have are as docile and calm
as can be. Thanks.........tc
I have two on order from Mark Kennedy. It's like waiting for Christmas. When I get them I'll probably be asking a lot of questions since these will be my first Boa's. Well, ok, so recently got a Rosy... but you know what I mean. Thanks again for all your input.
