Custom Building a Cage. WHat Supplies do i need?

Doug89 Feb 08, 2005 03:22 PM

Hey guys, i want to build a cage for a Leucistic Texas Rat Snake (Hopefully less than 5 feet in length) Anyway, what dimensions woudl be good, and what do i need to build the vivarium? What type of wood is good? etc. Any pics of simple or complex custom built ones would also be very helpful. Thanks in advance!

For a Texas Rat I would limit the cage to a footprint of 4'x2' probably between 18" and 36" in height. A longer cage will use a lot more material.

You can build pretty much anything with a cheap circular saw, carpenter's square, straight edge w/clamps and a drill. You don't need fancy tools.

Oak or birch laminated plywood are popular. It's pretty much what I use.
