Finding an escaped king...

kidcrazee82 Feb 08, 2005 06:51 PM

is easier than I thought, especially if the snake is hungry!! The other night I was looking for my striped king and found that she had escaped. After searching low and not so low, my girlfriend suggested that I thaw a fuzzy and rub it on the ground creating a scent trail. Since my snake had just defecated I figured she was active enough to escape because she was searching for food. So needless to say I tried the pinkie trick, leaving a scent trail from the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen straight to where I was sitting, fuzzie in hand. Not more than 5 minutes later did she come slithering out of the bedroom, hot on the scent trail. I let her wander a bit and she took the trail directly to the fuzzy. I then put her in her feed box, fed her, and made it so the only way she could escape again would have to be through ozmosis.

Cool Story! Sounds like something out of a movie! Wow, you got lucky that time! Thanks for sharing. I lost one of my prized E. Kings and searched all over the house and didn't find her til' the next day in my FRONT YARD next to the house - Whew! got lucky on that one! (She actually climbed down the dryer vent which had a hole in it). I just happen to walk by at the right time!

Great story about finding your king it came to you!
I once lost my Cal King between my cabinets and wall when he escaped out of a feeding container. After 4 weeks of him not coming out, I put some mice on the floor in a plastic container after 48 hrs I was watching TV heard something and the Cali King was striking at and trying to get into the plastic container with the live mice.
