Breeding a striped king snake...

kidcrazee82 Feb 08, 2005 07:00 PM

I want to start breeding my king and had a few questions. It will be my first time breeding snakes so any help would be appreciated. First off, what kind of kings can be crossed with my striped? I want to cross her with an albino reversed stripe but also thought of crossing with an albino banded and wasn't sure if the banded could be crossed. Second how do I deter the canabalism? Third...what are all the other things I should consider and/or do? When do they reach sexual maturity? Thanks in advance. -Joe

I can't answer most of your questions as I have not bred kings. But you can breed a striped Cal king to a banded Cal king as easily as to another striped. The striped mutant gene is dominant to the normal gene, so at least some of the babies will be striped or some variant of striped (broken stripe, dotted, whatever). Good luck.
