Cricket temp

miskittlegrl Feb 08, 2005 07:02 PM

Hi. I just got 1,000 3/4" (large) crickets for my beardy for the first time. He is 12" long and these are the perfect size for him. This is also my first time ordering 1,000. I normally get 500 mediums so this is a big change for me too. I was wondering, since they are bigger and LOUDER!!!, what temp is the lowest they can get and still be ok? I was thinking of putting them outside at night so I can sleep? I would most likely put them in the garage. It is in the low 60's at night here. If it's too cold I guess I could put them in the computer room or something. Thanks
Meghan

I'm not sure what temp they should be at - I just wanted to tell you that I had the same problem with the annoying cherping. I found that if I order the 1/2" crix instead that they haven't developed chirpers. They are smaller, but they don't chirp. You'll also notice that the larger 3/4" crix will die off faster than the 1/2" ones, so that's another good reason to downsize - you end up getting the same amount of food for your $. I'm feeding adult dragons, chameleons, and leopard geckos, and they all like this size fairly well. As for the 1000 you have 60 degrees doesn't sound that cold to me. Beleive it or not you can get used to the chirping, although I don't recommend it.

You should just get roaches they are cleaner, dont smell, and dont cherp. And if you get enought you will never buy crix again.
