Are air conditioners a health hazard?

Langi Jul 06, 2003 09:42 PM

I've heard that having ac in the room with your herps is dangerous, like it causes respitory infection or something. Is this true? Is it safe to have my herps in an ACed room as long as their temps stay good?

I've never had any problems with it. Depending on where you live, you could end up with a big oven without A/C.

I have an ac in my herp room and don't have problems.

Yay because my herp room is my own room and it is an oven. Thanks.

Health hazard to humans or lizards?
Shouldn't be a problem for lizards as long as temperature is stable as in their natural habitat, and NO drastic change of temperature.
For humans...the only concern is salmonella, particularly with the presence of children below 5 years and new born cuties. Air-conditioned rooms have less proper ventilation and does not promote a hygienic living environment where wild animals (particularly more than one)lives happily with man.
