Gravid This Time?? PLEASE Look. NEED opinions.

RyanT Feb 08, 2005 08:45 PM

I posted pics of this girl less than a month ago and the general consensus was not gravid. What is this? Ovulating or absolutely gravid now? I opened her box after not seeing her for about 5 days cause I went home to Philly for the Super Bowl. (Still in mourning by the way so be gentle Anyway, I couldn't believe this. Whatever this lump is, is very hard and just SWOLLEN. Please tell me someone can see what I mean. Then tell me what you think it is. I would appreciate it very much. Thanks alot for anything. Ryan.

For whatever reason, by the time I download these to my hard drive from my camera, upload them to the gallery then get them posted here they lose some definition and end up not looking exactly the way they should but you guys have to be able to see what I mean this time. So please tell me what it looks like.

For one, this is a ball python and not a burmese python which you happen to be posting to. Just to make sure you are aware of the differences...really...

You ball python looks to maybe be ovulating. The lower third swells dramatically, which is relative depending on how she normally looks. I used to think there was no such thing as a fat ball python, but recently I have seen this more often that I care to admit.

Ovulation in ball pythons will last around 24hrs then subside. 20 or so days later they will go through a shed cycle, shed then about 30 days later, lay eggs. Hope that helps.
