I'm building a rack for my geckos and was wondering if any body has info on heat tape or heat rope and which is better any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

I just ordered some heat rope.i was told it runs hot so you must use a rheostat with it.I'll let you know how it works out.I can't wait to get it actually.I am using it with regular tanks though.

I just recently made a rack using heat rope. It worked great no wiring to really worry about just ran the heat rope on each shelf, then plugged that into an outlet on the side of the rack that was connected to a dimmer on the front. Remember when buying though to pay attention to the heated length of the rope because on mine the first 6.5 ft where just a lead (no heat).


Flexwatt would be alot easier to work with. When using heat rope yuo really need to router it into the shelves. This is really the only way to get it out of the way when using it as belly heat..

yes true, but shouldn't you be routering for flexwatt too, or at least putting runner on? two passes over my table saw was enough for the heat rope
I actually used to use a real heavy foil tape over the flexwatt whe using it as bely heat in a rack...
