I have a question, on a painted turtle that is supposed to be given to me, its been quite neglected as I had mentioned in past posts...
But anyhow, to cut to the chase, I noticed that on the top of its shell, it has flakey white stuff, all over it .. And the shell itself is a very DULL kinda icky color... Could it be that the turtle has only had bout 3inches of water for all its life? It has no UVB bulb, just a regular light bulb with no other heat source. It also lives in a quite cold room in winter months... What do you think caused this turtles shell to flake off? When I finally get a setup and the turtle here I will post some pics of him/her. Its about 8 years old and about 8-10 inches around (Shell size of course).
Any info on how treat his shell condition, and what kind of shell problem it could be, would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks,
