Will a female breed with a male if she has already ovulated or if her cycles are not right

XtremeXteriors Feb 09, 2005 10:41 AM

i tried putting my proven female with my male pastel a few times over the last few months(at least 4 times) and she never wanted to have anything to do with him.then yesteday i was cleaning everyones cages so i put them all in the same tank so i could clean and when i went up stairs they were locked up and i was in total shock now she was bred out of season last year she layed 7 eggs on august 15 2004 of which 6 eggs hatched im very new to this and i didnt cycle them but from what i have been told an animal knows what is going on outside no matter what the artificial enviornment you give them, so is it possible that she hasnt ovulated yet and now should i start putting my male with her over the next few months they werent locked up long but it is a start she is super healthy and massive probably at 1900 grams is it possible she can pregnant

Couldn't hurt to try. Anything's possible. Mother nature's fickle.

Hope she didn't hear that!! :-o

they have to breed before....

ovulation..follicles drop out of ovaries and into oviduct and there they mix with and pick up sperm that fertilizes them.......

no sperm....?....female may drop duds....OR may resorb them and not ovulate..........

.the more breedings.the better chance of the oviducts being nice and fully loaded with VIABLE sperm..*(some die.some get stupid.some are lazy.etc.).......

..........god luck.breed from October till March......you'll learn what a gravid female looks like....

breed each female at least 5 times if possible.some 25....

yepp......

.....your question wasn't as I read it exactly.LOL

.um.some may breed .but I think MOST big girls will not actually breed too far after ovulation.....

.but I am usually done breeding them by then .you can just tell when they are done.by the size...and shape....

.most of my balls ovulate in Feb and March........most...

...yep.welcome........

ask any questions...

I got 15 years breeding experience.I asked a million stupid questions to all kinds of breeders and wanna-bees...

then I bluntly emailed Dave Barker and he wrote me 2 pages of facts on this all.......

he should know...he studied it........smartest snake dude there is?..........maybe.........at least one we can find,,talk to,,and meet from time to time........

wonder if Richard Ross (etc) ever comes to any shows.?........
