Hi. I'm hoping someone can give me an idea what to do to help my boa. I've got an adult male boa that has a bulb the length of its tail below the vent. I soaked him a couple time because I think it might be constipation but it didn't work. I let him loose in the herp room for a couple days hoping that moving around my help but nothing. He just laid in the same spot on a human heat pad.

I'd really like to help the poor guy so any advice at all is really appreciated.

Thanks,
FH

Hey,
Well, here's my advice, GET HIM TO THE VET!!!!!!!!! What are you waiting on, some miracle to happen. There is none, unless you have some medical background in veterinary studies, which I doubt. Don't wait on this. It could be an: impaction, or a rectal prolapse, or god knows. Just don't ask! It's time for the vet to have a look.

I couldn't have said it any faster. No doubt by now the prolapse (if that is what it is) is dried out and surgical repair is the only cure. This is definately something that should've seen the vet ASAP. Keep the tissue moist on the way to the vet, vaseline or polysporin works.

For those of you purusing this forum remember that this is all supplementory advice and NEVER come here as a replacement of a veterinary visit.

No, its not a prolapse. I think it constipation and not an impaction either. Anyway, thanks for the opinion.

Obviously whatever it is that you're talking about is not normal. If it is coming out of the vent then it is a prolapse of some sort, be it a rectal prolapse, hemipenile prolapse, tumor or otherwise. Some of which, you are right, may or may not be caused by constipation. For whatever reason it is there though, it is not normal, the tissue is not designed to not have the protection of the skin, and your snake needs to be taken to the vet asap!
Why are you avoiding the obvious?
