what kind of snake should i get

OK ive never had a snake.Im looking for something that fits in a 20 gallon, wont bite at me much,calm, and is affordable. O and of course a good starter snake.

I would reccomend either a corn snake or a ball python. both are relitavely small and not usually agressive. But most importantly do your homework on any species you choose well "ahead of time" If you have any other questions i'd be glad to help.

thanks i think ill get a corn snake because id think the enclosure would be cheaper and itd be easyer to handel

I would go with either a Ball Python or a Corn snake. Either one will need to be in a 20 LONG tank at the least. Not a 20 high....

Yeah, Corn Snakes are lovely animals. Beautiful, gentle and hardy. But in a few years he/she may have to be put in a 30 or 40 gallon enclosure.
(Of course I'm usually biased towards larger cages than absolutely necessary but I feel it benefits the animal.)
When buying your tank, find something with a nice sliding screen lid so it'll be more secure than a clip on lid. And I wish you and your future little friend the best!
