The best substrates

rfmaui99 Feb 09, 2005 04:13 PM

I'm currently using cypress mulch and it works fine. I was told that if my snakes ingest this mulch that it could have fatal effects. What is a good, safe substrate? (aspen bedding, sani chips, carefresh etc...) Any and all input pros / cons would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Russ

Many people use aspen as well. We use newpsaper.

well that should be ok and a way not to ingest it is to feed your snake in a different cage (like a cardboard box). but cage liners worked fine for me until i got a bigger cage and it wasn't big enough so i got repti bark. good luck, restless_gambit
