There should be little notches and bumps in/on the pipe to turn it to so it doesn't leak. I have had no problem with leakage and do not seal it. I take the pipe off the humidifier every night so it can air dry and once a week take it apart completely and flush it with a water/bleach solution. Of course I empty and rinse the humidifier daily - it might seem like overkill to some but I think it is too easy to "let it for a couple days" and end up introducing mold and/or bacteria into the cage. And we all know that I obsess

I work from home so I do not have a set schedule for the humidifer - Luna just asks. LOL! well, OK, she doesn't quite ask but I sort of turn it on as the need arises. Like if she had a shower I don't put it on again until she is nice and warm. It is probably on a total of 2-3 hrs./day

Hope this helps

The only things I seal are the end caps (with silicon). I don’t have “notches” like lele mentioned, never seen that before either. I do get condensation, but it only drips through the holes I drilled for the mist – which drips onto the plants. I am also quite sure some drips back down into the main pipe – then back into the humidifier which doesn’t seem to be a problem. If it leaks around the elbow then it may not be on tight enough. If it was me, and it still leaks, I would just seal it with silicon – even though it would make it more difficult to clean. I clean the pipes/humidifier when it’s empty (about a week and a half to two weeks). I have never seen any mold growing in there – guess it depends on the environment. Your timer seems fine –whatever it takes for you to get the humidity up. Pictures of your setup would help too. Peace.

Sounds a bit excessive/compulsive to me, but I can relate.

Ok..
is there a certain brand of humidifier you use or certain stats you look for in one? Or would any work as long as they were the up right kind?

Mine is from Holmes, as long as its an ultra sonic with a round port at the top it will work. I siliconed a PVC "adapter thingy" to the tank of the humidifier - the main pipe just rest inside it - no leaks.
