Unexpected sight

shadow4108 Jul 06, 2003 11:00 PM

I was comming home last night about 10:00, and it was very dark on my back porch. Just as I was about to place my hand on the railing I noticed something, a black snake coiled around my hand railing. I think we startled each other. After inspecting each other and snapping a few bad pictures, I sent him on his way to safer places. ( I have dogs) If I had to guess he was about 2 feet long. I'm not afraid of snakes, but this one started me. I know he lives under the house because I have seen him around, hes differnt from the others, he doesnt seem to be afraid of us, but I never thought I would see him this close! What do these snakes regularly feed on?

Sounds something like a black rat, though I don't have a location so I can not be sure (though it sounds like a rat or a racer). They will feed on mice, rats, and young birds. Andy
