She is skinny and lathergic she was rescued from a pet store that her mate was sold and she was put with two lager mali's. She has been sick for 2 to 3 months if what they told me was right. I am not fimilar with uros but am very experianced with beadies, snakes and tortises. I am looking for any suggestions and info that might be helpful. Thanks

Hi there! Geryi's were my passion and just got back into them thank goodness my schedule allowed me to get back into my tegu and uro passions again!

Anyways, geryi's are gorgeous yet for beginners can be a bad idea. The stress very easier, especially new imports. It sounds like she should be tube or syringe fed immediately with a 1:1 mixture of pedilyte and baby-food peas. Try the syringe, a thin-needle bird feeding syringe works well. Try .50 mg first and go slow! you may have to work the syringe under her check by starting towards the back jaw line. If you are unsure on how to do this a vet visit is definitely in order. Try feeeding this mixture once a day, for 4 days, then skip a day to allow her digestive system to trigger to work again.

Most geryis, though will skip back to health okay, although 50% (for epxerienced even) will look like they will make it and then sad die, or refuse to attempt to eat on their own again.
Try the feeding method however above asap. At least you tried, or go to the vet!

There were some blood tests done in geryi's about 1.5 yrs ago as well and found a lot have carried a heartworm-like parasite and may have caused them not to eat and literally shut down their body organs. Not to scare you, just to inform you.

I wish you the best and please feel free to email me directly at attentive-ear@comcast.net

I agree with Greg, he and I have both had good luck with the force feeding, though hopefully it's not coming a bit late. Be patient, avoid ANY unnecessary stress for the uro (and yourself)and he may very well come back.

Good luck!

Of course I remember Eve!!! Thanks for the awesome welcome back too! It's been way too long! I had to give up my uros and tegus for about a year to finish up grad school and the counseling realm, plus with family issues, work, etc.....
I miss the uros and tegus and so glad to be back into again.

I'll talk wit hya soon! Oh, here's my new email address as well. LOL attentive-ear@comcast.net
