New Green X Yellow Anaconda!

Ben_Renick Feb 09, 2005 07:28 PM

I just in a new Green x Yellow Anaconda, I know most in here are against cross-breeding and different morphs, but I still think it's beautiful. This guy is about 9' from what he looks, I'm going to get pictures of him after he comes out of the bag I got him in. He apparently didn't like the shipping part of the deal, and hasn't been fed for awhile, So I'm going to fatten him up tonight and see where that gets me. I will snap some pics of him after he comes out of the bag, his temper will not allow me to go near him at the moment. I opened the bag, and then I saw about 5' of him snapping at me, and then he went back in, I tried again, another 5' of him snapping at me. So I'm going to let him do his thing and get accustumed his own way. He's really beautiful, I can't wait to get some new pics of him!

Here's a pic of it! It's around 8-9' long, can't wait till it calms down to take a full body shot!

I would like to see close-up photos of the side and top of the head. Thanks,

Kelly

` Kelley, I cleaned up and enhanced the picture some. Did not adjust color. There isn't enough information in the file to crop out and enlarge the head.
` That is an interesting looking Anaconda. Since I didn't take the original, I have no way of knowing how true the color is. If I had a higher resolution picture, I could make a close up of the head quite clear.

like it could be 75% green and 25% yellow. I would like to see a close-up of the head because 50/50 hybrids very clearly show the head stripe pattern of yellows. This one seems to show an abundance of green characteristics. Thanks,

Kelly

kelly i no some people that have researched the green X yellow hybrids and have said that the hybrids cant be breed to each other or back in to one of the other. so a 75% green 25% yellow would be impossible unless u no something that i dont and i would love to hear it.

ben i cant really say anything about the snake being im ageinst hybrids and i will leave it at that.

Thanks Cody, I had not heard that. I would be interested in their researched data and where they acquired it. I know people that have produced retic X burmese hybrids that have bred the first generation 50% animals together and produced young, and also bred these hybrids with burmese to produce 75% burmese young. I would be surprised to find that it could not be done with different Eunectes species. Please let me know what they have found on this. Thanks,

Kelly

Yeah, I'm thawing a rabbit out for it right now for it... I was going to try to feed it large rats, but I realized they were too small for him... He is really thick. But this is the best shot I can get of him without him thinking I'm food at the moment, don't worry, I'm sure I will be posting a lot more pics of him over the weekend and what not

Where did you get it from? I sold my pair a couple months ago and it looks like one of the ones that I sold.

Ben_Renick Feb 11, 2005 09:51 PM

I got this guy from Carolina Reptile Extange. I held it today for just a little bit, and man, that thing just out of nowhere took a snap at me. I fed it today, so I'm hoping it will calm down a little tomorrow, but it snapped at the water bowl when I put it in there, so I'm not too sure... But we can all hope!

Nice green/yellow anaconda!! Just curious as to what you are using as a substrate, and to what kind of cage that is in the picture?
Thanks,
Rick

I usually use paper towels as a substrate. Humidity isn't a problem with it well for 2 reasons, one they are anacondas and they are in water most of the time and that's usually where they will deficate or pee, and the other is Humidity huts have always worked for good humidity for me The cages are monster cages, www.monster-cages.com. I'm actually about to get a new 4' x 30" x 1.5' cage from them.
