Green Poop!

yellowconda12 Feb 09, 2005 07:57 PM

I was cleaning out my three tanks today. I just got a new gecko named tubby, tubby has been at the house for six days and has not shown interest in eating anything. She might have eaten a waxworm or two, but I found green poop in her tank, fresh cause it wasn't there yesterday. Any input, is it bacteria or something worse?

New gecko has green poop, I need advise on how to care for him while he has not been to the doctor, I have not given crckets and am giving mealworms in his food dish. I found green poop when I cleaned out her cage. Any one had this happen, please respond I was going to breed this gecko this season would be a great help for some advise!

Well, if you have any doubts that your gecko may be sick; for one I would make a vet appointment, and for two, bring a fecal sample with you. It may be that your gecko's fresh 'poo' just happens to have a green tinge to it do to the vitamins the crickets/meal worms are fed, or if you feed your crickets greens to gut load them.

As far as breeding your gecko this season-- I would personally wait till the gecko is older or till a proper breeding age. Unless you know the age/breeding history of the gecko his/herself.

Cheers,

Cat

Thank you very much for the reply, the 2 girls I have are a blizzard and tang-carrotail one is 1yr and some months, and the sick blizzard whom I am probably not breeding unless her health turns out okay is two and some months old, I think they are old enough. some one said 10 months, the blizzard has already been bred twice. I thank you for the input on fresh greens, I have used a powder suplement for crickets. I am taking her to the vet, I hope its not serious. Thanks again! Rob
