Cockroaches

Hi. I know ive talked about getting roaches before but I HATE them so much. But crickets are driving me crazy!!! They smell horibble, they are LOUD, and jump all over!!!! I went to a website that describes briefly the different feeder roaches. I want something that DOES NOT climb glass or fly!!! I have compiled a list and here it is: orange head roach, peppered roach, death's head roach, discoid roach, or guyana spotted roach. Which one out of these is the best? I dont care if they dont breed well because they will only be fore one 4 1/2 month old beardie so he wont be eating too many of them. Also Im going to be calling around to some local pet shops to see if they have any of these roaches (mostly they will only have lobster roaches and madagascar hissing roaches) but if they dont then I will probably get them online. I will only get about 10 probably because I dont want them everywhere. Also if I put them in a 20-30 gallon rubbermaid container w/ a screen lid will they be able to climb out? Thanks
Meghan
ps if you have a website describing the care of the specific roach you recommend that would be great lol. Thanks

Beardiedragon.com has true death heads. They dont fly or climb glass. A rubbermaid container is fine.

OK, let me give you the low down on roaches. First it is a very good move on your part to give them a try. I have been keeping reptiles a long time and switching to roaches was the best thing I ever did for me and my pets. Most of the blaberus species are good breeders, but pretty fast moving roaches. Fast moving can be a good thing for people that want their animals chasing prey. The Eublaberus a little slower moving, but have more defense odor. The best species for new people or people that want a slower roach is Blaptica dubia. This is quickly becoming the most sought after feeder on the market. I am working with some other small species like Blatta lateralis (very fast) and Polyphaga Aegyptica (slow) that are around one inch and might work very well as feeders. Although the dubia get bigger you are always feeding them off as nymphs anyway. Roaches have so many benefits I don't have enough room to type about them. On my website under the Help & Support section I have some good documents on care, handling, and more.

P.S. I leave in a few day to take the wife and kids to Disneyland, so I'll answer all email when I get back.
