Rescue-Sigh!

samcin Feb 09, 2005 08:26 PM

I just got this tonight and I am not sure it will live. He will go to the vets tomorrow morning. It is 6-8 months old. I did feed it some water, but it hasn't been eating for a while.

He looks dehydrated. You should soak him in some warm water.

How can people be so cruel!

The rescue I took in last month was in pretty bad shape---but at least she could still hold her head up!

Try offering it a syringe of easy to digest protein...baby food chicken or turkey (the first foods kind with nothing added). If you have any pellet food (repcal) then crush some up and mix with water or diluted pedialite/gatoraide.

I hope he makes it!

Pics were a bit blurry, but I saw all I needed to see So sad to see an animal so weak, and deathly skinny... I wish you the best of luck with your rescue. Please keep us updated on how he/she does. Very Sad!!

Dragon has metabolic bone disease, which was obvious last night.
He or she is spending the day and night and tomorrow with the vet.

Euthanasa was mentioned, but my vet thinks he can pull this dragon through.

Dragon weighs 92 grams and is 6-8 months old.

thanks for all the advice. My son, who took Dragon to the vet at opening this morning, said even the vet is irritated to see an animal in such critical condition from such a preventable disease.

That is one of the sickest and sadest things I have ever seen. Do you know who had this guy before you? I would report them to animal cruelty if so.... That poor thing obviously hasn't had food or water for weeks.... extremely upsetting.... Good Luck!

When I rescued Cajun she was 7 months old and only weighed 40 grams, was 9" long and had 2 breaks in her arm. Creole was 7 1/2 months and was at 50 grams and 10" long. You are doing a great thing and I hope your little one pulls through and lives a happy life with you. Keep us updated please.

Oh and Cajun is now a little over 2 years and 15" weighing in at 320, and Creole is 16" & 380 grams.

I just put them both on the scale and they have gained since their last weight 4-5 months ago.
