PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Darkside Feb 09, 2005 10:22 PM

AHHHHHH!!!! My stupid roomate, without my permission, got my one juvie corn out while I was away yesterday and apparently put him back in such a hurry that he "didn't quite get the lid on right" and now he is gone. I found it this morning while doing my rounds, but I did not have a chance to post until now, so unfortunately he has already had more than 24 hours to move. Does anyone know how I may be able to either find him or lure him out if he is still in the appartment? Please help, I miss my little guy sooooo much!!!! Thank you!

I just went through the same thing with my little guy. I have hard wood floors, so I dusted around my walls with corn starch to check for movement and tracks. Baby powder would work also. I put out several small hides for him to crawl into, again along the walls of my room. Also, I tried to lower the overall temp so he would be attracted to a heat source and I placed his heat pad (with a towel covering it) on the floor with a hide on top of it. Lastly, though I didn't need to use it, it was suggested to me to take a 2 liter bottle, cut off the top and then turn it around so it makes a funnel leading into the bottle. Place a pinkie mouse in it and hope the little guy goes for it.

Good luck to you. I know how rough it is. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and say a little prayer for your little guy.

Start at dusk with a flashlight and quietly creep around the apartment, shining it all around the dark rooms. Do that every hour or so until you go to bed.

You can also put some buckets or garbage cans (that are too tall for him to escape from) near shelves or tables that he could crawl on. Put dirty mouse shavings in the bucket. He may go down into it, but can't get out. You can also put some dirty shavings in some of the hides to lure him in.

Don't give up - people have sometimes found their corn MONTHS after it escaped!

My brother neglected to lock up a 10 foot w/c burmese a few years back.First of all beat your roomate senseless until he calls you LordMaster, then make the dumbsh@t find it.Threaten him with a bed full of nasty sidewinders and then just do it.
To be very honest with you it took me two weeks to find a 10 foot burmese.A burmese with the dislike of humans or anything else it couldnt eat.
I found it one late night knocking dishes off my kitchen shelves.I thought it was a burgler and had my mossberg 590 with 3 inch magnums ready to rock and roll.
When I entered the kitchen Mr.Happy took a shot at my face and by the grace of god I didnt even have the reaction time to unload seven shells into my kitchen walls.
Your snake will show up when you least expect it.Make sure any ground level vents are sealed and you have a good chance of finding your corn....Paul

I lost a juvie last month. We have carpeting thru our the house. And So. Cal has been pretty warm. I found him under the trash can in the kitchen on the cool tile floor. While you search, also look on undesirable places for sankey. Bathroom hamper has been a favorite.

hey- when i was a teenager i hatched about 5 baby bull snakes that ALL ended up getting out of the cage they were in (obviously, it wasn't made for baby bull snakes). EVERY ONE of them managed to crawl 15-20 inches back into the heating ducts (the heating ducts didn't go downward, they just went inward) and refused to come out even when the heat came on, which led to each of their demise.
i just had my baby Ghedi get out in this new house i'm in last winter and he came up 3 months later much longer and more malnourished than when i saw him last.
as long as you haven't smelled that (all too familiar) disgusting odor from your furnace, he's still alive. just wait.
