CYPRESS MULCH MITES/TICKS ?

XtremeXteriors Feb 10, 2005 12:02 AM

If i get cypress mulch and bake it in the oven to kill any potential parasites and use it in my bp cages who do not have any parasites will i still be at risk to get mites/ticks also is cypress mulch good for helping wc bp's to get acclimated and possibly start feeding besides keeping moisture in the enclosure

I have NEVER had a mite in my collection.
I did have one BP that I adopted that had them but QUICKLY got rid of them.

I used to use aspen and cypress exclusively.
With that being said, the only thing I've ever used with consistency to keep BUGS to a minimum are NO PEST STRIPS.
These can be bought at any hardware store or Walmart.

Good luck!

No pest strips rock! I use them in my rat enclosures (trying to nip it in the bud). They last about four months, and are well worth the $8.00. However, you'll need to get some baby food jars and drill some small holes in the lid. MAKE SURE YOUR ANIMALS CANNOT COME INTO CONTACT WITH THIS STUFF! It's probably not a good idea for you to handle it either. I use news paper to hang on to it, and I have a "special" pair of scissors that I quarter it with.

Mites suck!

I have an abundance of baby food jars. My daughter goes through them left and right. Maybe I should wholesale these empty jars to you No-Pest users. =)

***PAYPAL SPECIAL***

Empty Baby Food Jars -- $10.00 each
Full Baby Food Jars (All Varieties) -- $16.50 each

Send Payment to: cjbianco@charter.net

Good Things,

Mites & ticks don't come from Cypress mulch...LOL. You don't have to bake it dude.
