Keeping hatchlings together

TaylorW Feb 10, 2005 08:47 AM

Hello,
I just got a trio of hatchling ghost cornsnakes. I have them in 6" deli cups that are not heated (with aspen bedding and 2 oz. souffle cups for water), my house is reasonably warm, but I would prefer to have them in a heated rack for optimum growth. I have two slots in my adult rack, approx. 14"X20" (28qt. sterilites).
Since they are so small and the rack is comparatively so big, I am thinking about putting the two females in one and the male alone, or all three together for a while (I will put them in separate deli cups for feeding). I am having a new cage made for one of my other snakes and will have room for all three in separate cages by April.
What do you all think? I would prefer to keep them separate, but don't see why I should bother if you all don't think there are significant problems associated with it.
Thanks,
Taylor W.

thanks a lot. I've read the thread on the husbandry forum and decided not to keep them together for now. I may try putting my two females together at a later date, but for now am putting one in a nice looking ten gallon on my desk.
