I used a disposible camera so they didn't come out to clear. He has a grey head and his belly is patternless and white.
thanks,
Matt

I have to say that even with the fuzzy picture it looks a lot like what I expect to see in a Bloodred Motley. But if you paid less that $500 for it it probably is a very red normal Motley.

I usually would have thought the same but I trust these breeders. He does have the traits though. His belly is clear with no pattern and his head is a grayish color instead of a normal's head color.
thanks,
Matt
The only problem is that grayish heads and clear belly patterns are common among motlies as well. Without further tests (breeding trials, detailed pictures, etc.), it seems unlikely to me that you actually have what you were told you have.
I am not attacking you, or anyone else, but I do have to wonder. You said that you "trust" these breeders, but when I asked you who they were, you said that you couldn't recall their names. Do you know them, or not?

These are breeders at an expo. I don't know them personally. They have that table booked for the next two years and have been there every month since I have started going. Within a year or so a true bloodred should start to become a uniform red, at this time I will know whether it is a true bloodred or not. When dealing with large sums of money I don't think they would risk being confronted in front of their customers for selling something that is not what they say it is. They would have to forsee the consequences, when you get a bad name in the pet trade the word spreads quickly over forums etc and this can be very detrimental to your vocation/hobby as well as many other things. I just don't think they would risk their business for one sale.
thanks,
Matt
Also I wanted to ask you, since you say that the stripe and motley pattern genes are at the same place on the DNA. I do know that I just didn't think about it b/c you can see that these snakes are hets at least for stripe b/c of their patterns and I was shown pics of parents so I didn't question its validity. So what offspring would be produced if you mate a Male motley lavender and a female striped albino?
thanks,
Matt
Brings offspring that are 100% motley/striped, het for lavender and amel.
